Strengthening Papua New Guinea and French Relations through Education

Papua New Guinea and the Republic of France are working towards strengthening and deepening their bilateral cultural and economic relations.


Senator and Head of the French Pacific Islands Group, the Honorable Madam Catherine Procaccia, met with the Minister for Education Honorable Jimmy Uguro at the Senate in the Palais Du Luxembourg in Paris on 17 November 2021 and they exchanged views on regional and bilateral issues, including partnership in cultural, educational and climate action matters.


They noted the importance of universal and quality education and to investigate partnership options to introduce education to remote and isolated communities through satellite and renewable energy mediums.


They further noted the efforts by the Government of PNG to protect and conserve the third largest rainforest in the world and the largest in the Asia Pacific region and to work together through joint environment protection and mitigation measures to strengthen these efforts.


Minister Uguro is in Paris to attend the UNESCO General Conference that ends on 24 November 2021.
