Papua New Guinea's Ambassador to Belgium and the EU and Commissioner General for Expo2020, His Excellency Mr Joshua Kalinoe has received several Letter of Interests from the UAE and Indian companies who attended the B2G Economic Networking Forum on 17 January in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The Economic Forum was organized by IBMC Global, a UAE based investment company, in partnership with the PNG Expo 2020 Pavilion.
IBMC Global is also responsible for managing the SME e-commerce Economy platform.
The PNG B2G networking forum was moderated by the CEO and Managing Director of IBMC Global Mr Sajith Kumar and officiated by the PNG Minister for Information Communication and Technology Hon. Timothy Masiu.
The LOIs received were from companies who would like to invest and trade in ICT, transport, smart cities technology and agriculture products, including timber imports.
Ambassador Kalinoe said the PNG Pavilion team will discuss details with the companies and match them with relevant government agencies and PNG companies and SMEs.
" I am happy and excited by the response received from the PNG Pavilion Expo team's continuous efforts in promoting and engaging with investors and traders at Expo2020.
"The target-based participation strategy approved by Prime Minister Marape's Cabinet for the team in Dubai to implement is working," Ambassador Kalinoe said.
He said apart from attracting trade and investment opportunities, the PNG Pavilion programs are creating visibility for the country, something that has not been seriously promoted in the past.
Ambassador Kalinoe urged the indigenous companies, including the SMEs to seriously venture out into the international economy to grow their businesses.
"Our first priority at the World Exposition in Dubai is to create opportunities for the PNG SMEs to prosper.
"Accordingly, we are in contact with the PNG SME Cooperation and some of the LOIs and other opportunities would be referred to the Cooperation for connectivity purposes", Ambassador Kalinoe said.
