Government launches PNG’s World Expo 2020 branding platforms

The official logo, website and other branding products for Papua New Guinea’s participation at the Expo2020 in Dubai was officially launched by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Trade Hon. Soroi Eoe and Minister for Information and Communication Technology Hon. Timothy Masiu, yesterday (8 July 2021), at the APEC Haus in Port Moresby.
Minister Eoe said the world expo which starts on 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022, is of substantial national interest to the country, adding, “the Government is giving its backing towards PNG’s participation because it is keen to see that the country achieves an appropriate return on investment from the programs and projects that will be promoted in Dubai..”
He said the website with the address, www.pngworldexpo2020.com , was developed by the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) and it will be a key platform used during the course of the event to direct traffic into the PNG pavilion in Dubai, as well as to the product and resource owners back in Papua New Guinea.
“PNG’s story in Dubai will focus on living in balance with our environment consistent with our policies and plans and pursuing projects of preserving environment for the future generations.”
Minister Eoe also expressed his gratitude to the official partners of the event, which include Air Niugini, DHL and the National Broadcasting Corporation as the official broadcaster.
PNG Expo2020 Commissioner General and PNG’s Ambassador to Brussels and the European Union, His Excellency Ambassador Kalinoe also thanked the private sector for joining the Government in preparing their individual brands and products which they will promote during the world expo.
Ambassador Kalinoe announced that the PNG Business Council in partnership with the Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry is currently organizing a business breakfast which the Prime Minister Hon. James Marape is expected to address the private sector regarding PNG’s participation in the Dubai expo.
Minister for ICT Hon. Timothy Masiu was delighted that the Department of ICT is part of the Dubai Expo coordinating team and have worked closely with all the inter agencies to develop our visibility platforms that was being launched.
“I know organizing for PNG’s participation at such an international event is not easy in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic challenges that the country is going through at this time, but Ambassador Kalinoe and the team have managed to coordinate, secure resources and progress to the stage where we are now ready to send our delegation to Dubai,” Minister Masiu stated.
“Together, we will promote PNG’s investments opportunities to the world and let me assure you, my colleague Minister Eoe and your good Ambassador Kalinoe and the team, I support this initiative and my Department of ICT and agencies under my portfolio, including NICTA and NBC, are on standby to assist you.”
Minister Masiu said, COVID-19 pandemic has made use of digital technologies compulsory and for PNG to be able to coordinate well and successfully deliver its objectives at the World Dubai EXPO, hinges also on how smart one can utilize digital technologies.
The event was witnessed by other Government Ministers including Vice Minister Assisting Prime Minister on Foreign Direct Investments Hon. Richard Masere, Forest Minister Hon. Walter Schnaubelt, Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Hon. Isi Henry Leonard, Head of Delegation from the European Union , as well as heads of departments and agencies.
